Instructor

My name is Donald Murray, founder and lead instructor of Petra Vanguard Solutions, LLC. With more than 16 years of experience in law enforcement and federal security, my career has been defined by responsibility, preparedness, and the protection of others.

 

I began my career in public safety with the California Highway Patrol, where I gained firsthand experience operating in high-stress, real-world environments. Over time, I transitioned into specialized firearms instruction roles, working across classroom, live-fire, and scenario-based settings. For the past five years, I have served as a Security Police Officer and Firearms Instructor under the U.S. Department of Energy, safeguarding mission-critical assets and training armed professionals in environments where precision and accountability are essential.

 

Petra Vanguard Solutions exists to bring that same disciplined, professional approach to civilian firearms and home defense training. The objective is not to create shooters, but responsible protectors—individuals and families who understand how to safely handle firearms, remain composed under pressure, and make sound decisions when it matters most.

 

Training is grounded in real-world considerations: how people actually live, how households function, and how defensive situations realistically unfold. Equal emphasis is placed on firearm safety, lawful decision-making, and practical judgment before, during, and after a critical incident.
